I recently bought an 85 f150 with an inline 6 4 speed. I have been working on my truck and really enjoy being able to work on a car that i can see the ground from the engine compartment. first gear is a joke since i have to shift by the time i get to 5 mph so i start out in 2nd gear. the interior dash is crap and i have put carpet inside. i also have to find out why the gas gauge and temp gauge dont work. i am always looking for ways to fix my truck myself and ways to make it run better. right now it runs a little rough and a friend said he thought it had a dead cylinder. i dont know what that is. i changed the spark plugs and wires and distributor cap. any ideas are appreciated. it is 4wd and a shortbed.

Welcome from Southern California. The In-Line 6 is a great motor. You need to have compression test done, or buy a gage and test it yourself. Post under the maintenance section for tech. help. on the "how to" Each cylinder should be 145 psi or more 165 would be better.
