Default New from CT

Hello all,

New guy from CT, looking to buy an F150. I've had 94 b4000 4.0v6 extended cab 4x4 manual, a 95 Ranger 4.0v6 extended cab auto in the past. Currently have an 06 Mustang GT manual and an 05 Subaru Legacy GT auto. Subaru getting up there in miles and I miss convenience of truck. I'm here to research 2012+ extended cab 4x4's, undecided on 3.5 vs 5.0 (reliability & real world mpg) preferably around 30k miles or under. I'd love a loaded out FX4 but I need to weigh pro's & con's ($). It will be my daily, winter/ski beast, and around house truck, possibly infrequent trailer down the road. It may get small upgrades, leveling and slightly upsized a/t's but won't be big build

Some of the things I am trying to look for:

3.5 vs 5.0 reliability (expect 130k+ out of it without headaches)
3.5 vs 5.0 mpg real world
Can I install factory trailer break controller easily, does truck need certain wiring (like if it has factory hitch and wiring out back, is that enough), and does it require dealer programming
Did all FX4's have the locking diff, and what else makes up full fx4 pack

And found pics of my old trucks

My searching got accelerated back in May, drivable but all dented up, still faired better than my friends Grand Cherokee
