Default Mileage Before Breakdown

So I am about to move to Texas. But first I will be visiting West Virginia before I move and would love to buy my first F-150 for the 22-24 hour drive to Texas. The only problem is that I don't know at what mileage is considered "High-Mileage" for these trucks. I want any F-150 from 1997 on until they get out of my price range of about $15,000 or so. I know that obviously you should generally go for the lower mileage, but if these trucks are good until about 160,000-180,000 miles than I will be looking for something around 100,000 miles or less. But I don't know the mileage range at which these trucks start breaking down. Thanks for any and all advise!!!

Default Welcome to the forum.

Thank you! I was just wondering because I know that generally most vehicles will last until the 150,000-175,000 mile range. I was just wondering if these trucks were any different. I've heard that BMW's 3.0L is mostly good up to 200,000-250,000 miles.

If you don't need the truck for moving, then wait until you get to TX. Every weekend something is on sale, and a brand new 2012 F150 XL stripper model can be had for $17,500 sometimes.

Ford is giving $1500 rebate + $1000 more if you finance a 2012 F150 in my area of TX. With a stripper being $23,500 - $2500 in incentives minus whatever the dealer knocks off, you can get a new vehicle for about $20,000 OTD.
