Lost Soul
Hello All,
As the title says I'm a lost soul, trying to be a good owner to my truck, as she's been great to me.
I have a number of general maintenance to-do's to get through to have my truck running smoothly again. Hopefully with anyone's help I can find an efficient, cost effective way of completing these items.
I have a white 1999 F-150 Lariat 4x4, 8 cylinder, 5.4 L with around 125,000 miles on it. Like I said, the truck has run well, only fell victim to my lack of driving (gas prices) and any damages occurred from outside world.
First, I would like to replace the clips on the passenger side view mirror. The mirror was punched out by a non sober pedestrian. The mirror itself is still in good shape and signals work. The only problem is the four white clips that lock it in and are used for the power adjusting are broken. Any advice on obtaining said clips so that I can use the same mirror?
Another would be my gear shift selector. When I put the car in 'R', it is in park. When I put it in 'N', it shifts to reverse, and so on and so forth....What is the best way to realign?
I will start off with that. I'll do my part by searching through the forum for any existing posts regarding these two inquiries. Any additional help would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to being a part of this forum, and hope that I can contribute as much as I beg for help.
Thanks!

Just wanted to update this for anyone who may have this problem in the future.
As for the gear shift indicator: I followed instruction from similar threads and zip-tied the loose wire underneath the steering column. The hardest part was the small working area, but it beat the heck out of taking apart the dash. Only had to take off one panel underneath steering wheel.
I have figured out that the mirror glass for my model is not sold separate of the assembly. Well, Dorman does not at least. At this moment still have not replaced it, but will probably want OE assembly so that it matches. SO I will most likely order the assembly for around $130 - $150 and take the mirror/mounting pins off that. Still beats paying $500 getting replaced at dealership. And the "clips" I mentioned in first post, are really called 'mounting pins'. So, I am an idiot for that, HAHA!
