Good Mornin.........
This truck has only been in our family for a year and we have never changed either of these. So that would be a good place to start.?
As the transmission changes from first to second there is an unusual jerk, then it goes right into second and as it goes into third the same thing occurs. Everything in the engine seems to be fine.....my son has done much rebuilding and replacing of engines of all his ford trucks ,however repairing transmissions , not so much. This problem is occuring in my daughters truck and i am game to take on the challenge myself....i hope.

What year is the truck? What transmission is in the truck?
Try servicing the transmission first. Spin the motor by hand and look to see if there is a drain plug on the torq convertor. If so drain it too. Then install a new filter and gasket and re-fill the transmission. See if that works.
