Default Just looking

1st post on this site. Currently GMC Duramax owner looking to get into the F150XLT regular cab long bed 4X4. Picked up the brochure from the Ford dealer this morning and noticed the wheel base on the XLT long bed 4X4 is 144.5" and compared to 133" on mine. I can make a U-turn into the second lane going the other direction with my truck now, so how tight does the F150XLT turn?? Is it something I need to worry about?

I currently have the Duramax but don't need another diesel for what I plan to tow, so was thinking about the 3.5L twin turbo V6 engine. Is it a good engine?? At 65mph, what rpm will I be running? My Duramax at 65mph is right at 2000 RPM.

Any suggestions on must have packages, options, wheels etc.

Welcome!

With yours being a 3/4 ton (assuming), the extra wheelbase shouldn't affect it too much. The 145" wheelbase is probably the most popular of all F150s by far and we all get around fairly well. The extra cab space will be well worth it as well.

The ecoboost is a good engine and the rpm it will be running varies largely on which gearing you have. 3.55 is a good all around gear. Not sure if you can get an eb in a rclb but I'm sure you could check Ford's site fairly easily.

Take a look around and do a few searches (google works better than the site search it seems)

Not sure about the turning radius on the 145" wheel base because I don't have anything to compare it to. It turns plenty sharp for me. but the EcoBoost is an awesome motor. You will be surprised it pulls like Diesel at 65 you will be about 1700-1800 rpm with the 3.73 gears like I have.

Make sure to test drive one before you buy
