I have been waiting to make this post for weeks now. To formally introduce myself I am Philip from Yukon Canada. I am a journeyman carpenter. My current job is related to that. I am a project manager who builds/renovates government housing for low income, seniors, and generally vulnerable people, as well as community teachers and nurses. But to be clear I am not wearing the tools, I am at the desk paying people to do the work for me. My back thanks me every day for switching.
Okay, now the important stuff.......On Wednesday the truck finally arrived via car carrier (on with a load of Chevy's...eeew). I picked up a 2018 F-150 Platinum - V8. The only problem, it was 2500 km (1550 miles) away in Lethbridge Alberta. I decided instead of making the trip during the covid-19 pandemic I will have it delivered (well worth the $1600 - Hey that's a buck a mile not too bad!!). While this proved to be somewhat frustrating, in the end the vehicle was delivered within about 2 weeks of me getting insurance set up and confirming that with the dealer -- College Ford LincolnLethbridge, Alberta. They have a great inventory if anybody is interested. https://www.collegefordlincoln.com/index.html I had the dealer install an OEM tri-fold cover, and I had the bed liner done since it looked well used in the photos with no liner at all. Overall the truck is in excellent condition. It was delivered with just over 52,000 km (32,000 miles) on the odometer. It has new tires and a new windshield. Yes it is a very low payload, which will limit my towing capability in the end. I am switching from a Nissan Frontier. So the payloads are almost the same. My reasoning is I have made it 15 years in the Nissan so I am used to working with that. I also have access to a dual axle snowmobile trailer if I ever needed to haul a load of material. So I purchased this truck knowing it has a low payload and my lifestyle will work fine with that.
I finally got the Fordpass app to work today so I can remote start, lock/unlock. Took some tinkering, I had to connect the truck to my home wifi, update sync, then register the Fordpass App. After seeing the very conservative redesign I am quite happy with the 18' ...Although I could sell my house and buy the new loaded F-150 to live in and then buy another vehicle to daily drive....And also I am loving the V8, the ginormous fuel tank is pretty cool it was saying about 850km dte on a full tank.
