Default Howdy folks!

Just stumbled onto the forum after a few years with my 2016 F-150 Platinum.
Found myself stuck a few weeks ago on a snowy/icy hillside - snow play alongside the freeway. Tow truck winched me out, but even the 100 feet down to the road (where snow had melted) I was sliding like a ship without a rudder.
"Winch?" I asked. "I'd get better tires first" the tow truck driver suggested. We just moved up from the SF Bay area, and I picked up the truck used - clearly the tires were selected for city driving. Now that we're in the mountain dessert, and planning to do more outdoor/offroad adventures - I'm starting to get more familiar with its outdoor/off road capabilities.

That probably sums up my "mod" experience, and the opportunity to learn from more experienced (long-term) pickup owners.

That said, my young adult son and I just spent a few months bringing an old Bronco II back to life. Flex plate had a few chipped teeth, Starter was bad, both fuel pumps, Clutch safety switch - quite an education!
So with a little guidance, I'm not afraid to dive into repairs. As an IT Pro, I'm fascinated by the ForScan configurability. Looking forward to the tips and knowledge y'all have shared!

I had those Pirelli tires one each of my previous trucks... they are useless in wet, snow or ice.

I got these: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires..._Tire&code=yes

Might be the original tires, and I'm about to break 70k...time for a change?
