Default Hi from the UK !!

Hi guys,

Hope everyone is well !!!

Having purchased 2 x 2011 FX2's back in March and shipped them back to Surrey, UK, i've been meaning to join up to the forum for a while now to introduce myself.

I have a friend in Ontario, Canada who had several FX2's for sale, one was a pristine 5.0 crew with the 6.5 bed in black and the other was a ecoboost, grey with the 5.5 bed, not quite as nice as the black one but also a non runner, think every piston has a hole in it but that's another story! He did me a deal on both so i parted with some UK pounds and stepped up to the plate ! Mileage on both is just over 100,000 miles, 160k kms.

I've been using the black one since it came over, not missed a beat other than has a bit of a drive train thump, probably just grease needed in the splines.....hopefully.

Anyway, i'm after some advise if i may as i know there are some very clued up guys on here.

On Thursday, the truck had been out, absolutely fine. Parked it up for about and hour, got into start it and it wouldn't crank, almost as if an immobiliser had kicked in. All dash lights came up nice and bright and everything from a battery power point of view appeared to be fine although i didn't have a meter with me.

I had to get it towed home, tried it again on my drive and this time it kind of cranked but was very irregular and slow. I was hoping it was simply a mysterious battery going flat so i put a power pack on it, it cranked fine but wouldn't fire. I tried it quite a few times but like an idiot, let the pack go flat before i tried to squirt some fuel down the throttle body.

I have sine bought a scanner and it's thrown up a few codes:

P0600
P060A
P068A
U0300

Having cross referenced them, i can see that many point to the PCM.

I'm just about to charge the battery but i'm not confident that it can simply be the battery as if it was, it should have fired whilst connected to the power pack or in my mind it should have.

One last thing, i let the fuel level get really low a few weeks ago whilst parked on a slope and it didn't fire. After putting in a couple of gallons, it still wouldn't fire but after a few squirts into the TB, it eventually fired and pulled the fuel through. I think this fuel thing though is a red herring and it literally just was because it ran out of fuel.

Any guidance is truly appreciated,

Thanks

Brit

Thanks guys,

I've just been told that my battery won't be in until tomorrow, i kind of preempted this and put my existing one on charge last night,

Okay, i tested the battery with a scanner, it read that the battery was good (not sure how it takes into account the specific gravity but anyhow) and was reading 13.46 plus volts before i started cranking.

First thing i noticed before i cranked it over was that the fuel pump was continuously running (key on run) this is probably normal but not something i had noticed before, i thought it reached pressure and stopped until the pressure dropped again but as i say, i've never really listened so you guys would be a better judge than me on this.

*****have since googled this, it seems that the pump runs all the time in run******

Upon cranking, it turned over as it always does so my assumption now is that the battery isn't the culprit, still no firing though. I gave it about 5-7 attempts and did notice that the engine did 'jump' once or twice and also heard what i thought to be the starter gear disconnecting and reconnecting with the ring gear but i guess this would happen if it did jump, making a bit of a split second teeth grinding noise.

I also squirted a little fuel down the TB, still nothing. I then tested for a spark on two random cylinders, no spark on either,

I pulled the codes again, now down to three:

P0600
P060A
P000A (camshaft position sensor slow, bank 1- i guess this would come up as no oil pressure on cranking)

Also, i'm not sure if this is any help but these also came up since DTS clearance:

MIL-OFF
MS-OK
FUEL-OK
CCM-OK
CAT-OK
HCAT-OKAY
EVAP-OK
AIR-N/A
O2S-OK
HTR-OKAY
EGR-OK

This cycle:

MS-INC
FUEL-INC
CCM-INC
CAT-N/A
HCAT-N/A
EVAP-OK
AIR-N/A
O2S-N/A
HTR-N/A
EGR-N/A
