Hi, pro-advice needed
Hello friends. My first time here, even thought I used to own two F150s in the past.
this time need an advice. “Accidentally won the truck on an auction. When started driving - there is a grinding noise on the passenger side, front wheel. It is only there when I press gas pedal. When coasting - nothing. Does not intensify when turning or when the gears are switching. Only when I press gas pedal. Please help - what could it be. Also - a recommendation of a good and hones F150 mechanic in Vancouver, BC, Canada would be much appreciated. Thank you all!

Truck details
Hi guys, thank you for the reply.
It is a 5.4L Triton.
4x4.
Automatic transmission;
Short cab (one row of seats);
Short box (just over 6’).
Looks pretty stock to me (as in - doesn’t look lifted or otherwise modded).
What other info can I provide - to make it easier to brainstorm?

Common for an integrated wheel end (IWE) or 4x4 hub to make a grinding sound when it is losing vacuum. vacuum holds the wheel end out.. dis-engaged when not in 4WD. more vacuum is produced at idle. suggest when driving on a straight stretch of road and hearing the grinding noise that you shift to 4H and see if the noise goes away. If it does, let us know and we can help you troubleshoot.

Thanks a lot! Just got to try that now - you were spot on - when grinding started I switched to 4x4H - and grinding went away. Switched back to 2H - and a minute later grinding came back. Tried several times with the same result. What do I do next? (I really appreciate your help)

This means you are losing vacuum to the wheel end, to troubleshoot you will need a vacuum pump or a parts cannon. most common part would be the solenoid located on the firewall next to the computer. new version will have a rain hood built onto it to prevent water intrusion. if you don't want to toss parts at it you can read up on the vacuum pump troubleshooting procedures, you can get a vacuum pump on the loan a tool program at auto zone.

Would this be the pump in question?

and this - the solenoid?

the pump you need is not a part, it's a tool used to troubleshoot the wheel end vacuum. That is the correct solenoid though.
