Default Hi guys

Well, i'm gonna buy an F150 this summer. '04-06 4wd. Haven't decided on 5.4 or 4.6. Haven't decided on x cab or crew. Plans will probably be a leveling kit and 33 x 12.5's. It'll be a weekend warrior and might see 5-8k miles a year.

I have some background with VCT engines as i've been driving Escort ZX2's to and from work for the better part of 6 years now. As i understand it the 4.6 3v has a VCT solenoid per head, correct?

Are there some things i should look for when looking at 60-100k mile F150's? I know about the 5.4L plug issue. That's kind of why i'm thinking to get the 4.6L. The vac solenoid for the 4wd i know about. Is that just one of those things, if the 4wd engages, it's good, if it grinds it needs replaced?

Any pointers are welcome. I'm not really a noob to cars, but trucks i kinda am.

Thanks in advance.
