hi.
looking into F-150's, just starting my research. currently driving a 2005 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab 4x4 with the 4.0 and a 6-speed manual (and it's a great truck, I'd just like something a bit bigger...assuming I can figure out how to fit a full-size truck into the garage).
leaning toward FX4, 5.5' bed, 5.0 or ecoboost (still cant figure out why they list 9.9" ground clearance with the 6.5' bed but only 9.0" with the 5.5' bed, lowest point should be the rear diff so unless they're using a larger diff housing with the 5.5' bed for some reason...)
I'm quite a way from pulling the trigger (at least 6 months, probably closer to a year).

You'd have to settle for the Nissan in the garage, I dont post pictures of the wife's Honda. And FWIW, not many companies offered anything comparable when I bought my truck (4 door, 6 speed manual, 265hp, 4x4) and what I will miss the most is the manual transmission.
seriously, I've seen quite a few jabs at imports here...every domestic I've owned has had a ton of problems, the imports (nissans and hondas), not so much. I've had so many problems with chrysler products that I've sworn them off forever. Had an 85 escort that didnt survive past 75k and an 87 tbird that was junk at 80k (dealer said it wouldnt make it to 90k), drove it to 130k but it had a TON of problems on the way. meanwhile, the 97 nissan I had ran like a top when I traded it in at 145k for the truck I have now (which still runs fine but my needs have changed once again).
The biggest turn off about Ford right now is the attitude of some of the owners in the community. I mean are you (and by you I mean only those who do this) really so petty and immature that you need to sling insults at those who drive 'imports' (many of which were built right here in the US)? That's not a real good tactic for getting someone to see whatever point you're trying to make. I also see you have the typical holier than thou owners of 'top end' trucks. Unfortunately that seems to be present on any forum. Too bad, that attitude could go away too since in general, the raptor guy and the FX4 guy may have the same interests and just see different ways to go about getting there...not only that, they both have Fords, no point in getting into a pissing contest about who has the better truck. Beyond that, the world would be pretty boring if we all drove the same thing....and car companies would have no incentive to innovate without competition.
As for me. I'm looking at Ford because its time for a full size truck. I've heard good things about Ford lately and the fact that they saw the writing on the wall and did the right thing early enough that they didnt need the government to bail them out says a lot to me. I think the Tundra is ugly and Toyota is living off it's reputation from the 80's. The Titan is a dated design. Dodge, I like the look but I'm too leary of problems to even consider them ever again...plus the bailout. GM...bailout. good thing I was thinking Ford because that's all thats left.
