Hi all!
New first time Ford owner from Pennsylvania. 2019 5.0 SCab. Just doing a quick introduction and I'll be joining in on some 5.0 engine noise discussion threads. Having owned it since April, I can't say that I'm thrilled and happy with this truck. I am happy to have such an excellent source of info and knowledgeable owners here on f150forum and I look forward to learning a lot more about these trucks.
The Good:
So far I like the truck's capabilities and features. I'm towing a 27 foot camper around 6500lbs loaded. It seems to have plenty of power for the job. The truck is a pleasure to drive comfort wise and being an XLT, it seems to have a good balance of options. I do wish I had real tow mirrors and a little more lift.
The Bad:
This truck has 1100 miles and from day one I heard the off throttle decel cold engine rattle reported by the 2018 5.0 and EcoBoost folks. I hear whining from the trans that sounds like a turbo. I hear some ticking at idle that kind of sounds like a diesel. I hear some engine knock sounds going up hill. I was not expecting to find such fault out of the gate, I thought F150 was the king of 1/2 ton trucks and was #1 for a reason. I have owned a lot of vehicles and most had nothing to really complain about. I've read 100's of posts and am starting to realize this truck is not a keeper. I do want to understand what I am hearing and if there are solutions.
