Default Hello from Oregon

Greetings from Lane County, Oregon! I recently purchased my second F-150, since I was forced to sell my first after only owning it for a few months. My first was a '93 XLT and it had a bunch of problems (ignition switch wouldn't work, one leaky gas tank, slow tranny leak, no 4X4 due to a vaccuum leak, etc.) but I had to sell if for medical reasons, as I had every intention of learning how to fix it and getting it back in order brick-by-brick.

I was recently able to replace it with a similar truck (1993 f150 XLT Extended cab 4X4), complete with a ton of issues. Before I bought this, I couldn't change the oil in a vehicle to save my life. So far with only the help of a few books and youtube videos, I've replaced replaced about 9 major parts and likely saved myself 1000s of dollars in labor. Now it runs great (though it still has some issues, like a muffler that has been completely eaten by rust) but I can't imagine there are many better vehicles to learn about engines on.

Someday when my numbers come up in the lottery, I'll buy a brand new one and pay some peasant to change my oil and wash my windows, but I'm thrilled to be able to enjoy this older truck now, and I'll have something new to teach my kids when they're ready to learn.
