hello interweb!
howdy folks, i'm glad to find this forum. i recently bought a 96 f150 and am enjoying everything that comes with it..from the leaky oilpan gasket to the crappy fuel pump to the rusted strut mounts, it's a pleasure! i found this site while researching tire size and gas mileages....i've got the v6 4.9l engine. the truck had 31" tires when i got it but i am interested to know if i could increase my power and fuel efficiency with some smaller tires.
anyway, i look forward to more advice than i could ever use......
cheers!

Welcome to the board!
As you can see from my signature, I am driving a 96 F150, 5.8v8, with 31x10.50 tires. The stock tire for my 4x4 was 265/70R15, which is not much smaller than the 31's. A smaller tire may get you a slight increase in mpg, but probably not very noticeable. I am getting about 13mpg around town and 18mpg on the highway.

thanks for the input, dewman. i get around 13mpg with mine and it's the 6cyl...don't do much driving over 55mph where i live...just wondering if it's even worth the trouble to try smaller tires.
