Default Hello from California

Hi all! I am from SFV in Los Angeles.

Had my F150 for a few years. Recently got out of it (gas prices were too crazy), and looking into a F150 lightning! Though the tow rating does concern me.... curious to read more about real life towing experience people have had with it.

I do have some stuff I'll eventually list on the forum I had from my F150 that won't work won my future lighting

So do the math for me, just how long does it take to recoup $80,000 buying a pickup vs gasoline prices being more than you can afford?

Yes Washington state gas prices are out of control as well. They are doing wave after wave of taxes/schemes like carbon tax/pay per mile, and other fun things......

David Hineline makes a valid point. It will take a long time/many gallons of expensive gas to make electric make sense. That being said, tough towing jobs are probably best handled by gas, or diesel engines at this time. I don't know much about any of the electric trucks. But battery life, or more importanly battery life while towing is the elephant in the room.
Not to mention resale when the battery pack is in need of replacement. Also the electric grid/ electric prices down that way are not a little issue....... So I think you have to do some thinking on the pros and cons of this.

I'll say one thing I have thought of in recent years. I work on car systems a lot, and not just mine. When I do work on systems, like cooling, fuel, engine/gear lube/trans/transfer case etc, I think how much more time I would have if I only drove electric.
