Default Hello all, need help buying

Yes I am buying an F150, in the 97 to 2001 era, just need to know if there was a particular year that I should maybe shy away from, right now Im looking at 97 xlt manual with 148000k's, a 98 xls manual with 179000k's and a 98 xl auto with 200000k's and an 01 xl with 190000k's, yes the 01 is newer and all but he is very sticky on his price. Anyways any help would be appreciated, there are new ones that come fairly often, haven't seen any 99 nor 2000 's yet

Thanks

Yeah for sure, but they all look to be in decent shape and none of the owners say that they any have problems...well nothing serious anyways with their trucks

LOL yeah they all say that. they say there is nothing serious with them and all have some type of problem??

I would pick the one that you feel is in the best shape the one you feel you will get the most of your money from. Ask the guy if you can take it to have your mechanic look it over first, if he isnt hiding anything then there shouldnt be a problem right ?

Yeah that's a good idea but there are not many decent trucks around here for sale (remote area) therefore I have to drive a couple of hundred miles to get one, that's why i was asking if I should shy away from a certain year or trany type etc....
Thx again

97 and 98 seems to of had alot of problems compared to 99-03. There's a thread somewhere that shows the problems the trucks have and years. And it's mainly 97-98, few 99s but nothing serious.

If I can find that thread I'll post it, if not just search for it.

Don't let this scare you away from those trucks. Just look through them and make sure nothing is wrong, if you really like 1 of the trucks, get a mechanic to look it over.
