Hello all...
I have two F-150s parked that want me to work on them someday but they're low on the list so I'm just here to glean info and start getting ducks in a row and parts ordered.
My '78 2wd has a rusted out bed and body but I hope to build a truck out of it someday with a small 4 barrel, headers, and a 4 speed OD(which I have; in need of rebuild). I built a wood cap for it years ago that works well for camping. Hope to fix it into an economical travel rig that can make it up mountains without crawling. 243,000 miles on the 300 with a spun main. Three on the tree; single barrel.
The '94 has 4wd, 5 speed, and EFI but never got any better mileage (17 mpg) than the '78. Now it has correct size tires but only gets 14 mpg. Had the front end fixed-got ripped off, so I had it fixed elsewhere-got ripped off. Now it's too unstable and unsafe to drive so it's been parked for two years (the 2 year battery cable change job) until I can get tooled up to do my own front end work and not kill anyone in the name of others' greed and proud incompetence. It's a keeper because it has no rust and I like the 300 and 5-speed. Needs bigger tires and wheels brakes ball joints tie rod ends and all the other junk they all need. Has towing ratios and it doesn't get up and go pass well at all. Can't be worked on as easily as the '78 but it has no rust... must put '94 body on '78 truck?
Well those are my sad Ford stories; except for the fast '70 slayed by drunk driver blowing red light and the cannibalized '72 skeleton.
Best wishes to all and good luck with your trucks.
Chuck
