Default Hello All

I am an expedition owner. I have a 2004 Eddie Bower Premium that I bought new that now has 220,000 miles on it and it is succumbing to the rust from living in Eastern Pa all of its life and driving on the Delaware and MD. beaches in the summer time. The frame is no bueno! I need to start the process of buying another ride to replace it. Kids are all grown up, so no need for the expedition, I want to have my pickup back! So F150 it is. My expedition has the 2 valve 5.4 in it which aside from spitting 4 spark plugs out over the last 16 years has given me no trouble. 220k miles..... In the 80's I owned a 73 & 77 F250 highboy and miss them terribly. So my thought is to find something for 15k or less, 4x4 super crew, possibly from a southern or western state that is well maintained that has reasonable miles on it with the 5.0 litre motor in it.I want to stay away from the 3 valve 5.4 for the obvious reasons, not the least of which would be that oil starved right side valve train over the years. As you can see I keep them until the wheels literally fall off so I want to stay naturally aspirated. I can't see the turbos lasting that long on the V6's and they are way too expensive to replace. So since i am early in the process I'm looking for what you have to teach me in this HUGE knowledge base.

Teach me master, please......Thanks

Welcome to the site! I had the same thoughts about the turbos and I plan on keeping my truck for at least 20 years so I went with the 5.0 hoping it will last. Best of luck on your search.

New here as well, I just purchased a 2017 F150 Supercrew. I went with the 5.0 for similar reason, I tend to keep vehicle for many years, Ive had many 5.4 in E series cargos and also got 260k+, but love the F150 5.0, got lots of power for me, sounds great, very comfortable with the purchase. Good luck.
