Default Hello all

Hello everyone, I'm John. Just recently purchased a 99 F150 XLT Lariat, fully loaded, one owner. This is my fourth F-series pickup (three 150s and one 250) of the last 30 years or so. It's primarily for my son to learn how to drive on, so whether or not it survives is yet to be seen. Regardless, at some point it will become a parts donor for a street-rod truck of some sort that I intend to build when I retire. I have a couple of questions since the owner's manual is missing:

How do I identify what model of transmission it has? Want to add a deeper sump sized pan with drain plug and need to order the right thing.

How do I identify what model of rear axle it has? Want to add a finned aluminum cover and want to buy the right one.

Is there somewhere on the F150 forum where I can find a good condition 1999 F150 owner's manual? Thanks all.....JLCB

Welcome John from SoCal. Sounds like a great project with your son. You can ID the trans by getting the vin number and use the forums decoder or look for a metal tag on the side of the trans. The rear axle will be the same thing. You can try www.summit racing.com for these parts. You can look on Ebay for the manual if you want a hard copy or you can buy it and download it online. Good luck.
