I'm a first-time truck owner, saying hi from Wisconsin. I couldn't afford new in today's market so I picked up this used 2021 XLT about two weeks ago and thus far have been very pleased with the purchase. Was a 1-owner truck that, as far as I can tell, was never used to tow anything. Clean carfax.
To stay within budget, most of what I looked at was around 100,000 miles. My truck has 98,500 miles but it doesn't feel like it. It starts, runs and drives like new but as this is my first truck I don't have a real frame-of-reference.
I have no real plans to tow anything, so I opted for the 2.7L Ecoboost. I think my only real complaint is that the 10R80 feels skittish in 'Normal' mode. I've never had a 10-speed before. The transmission feels fine but I just wonder if this is overkill. Eco mode is fine (the truck just gets me up into 6th or 7th around town asap) and Sport mode is fine, but regular feels like it's confused. Time will tell I suppose.
I don't know if the spark plugs have ever been changed. As it sits, at almost 99K miles, everything feels fine. I looked up my maintenance schedule and I've found conflicting information as to whether or not plugs should be changed every 60K or every 100K. I'm going to get the oil changed at 100K (so in a few weeks) and am not sure if I should just ask the dealer to check/change the plugs also, or if I should just take the truck to 120K and get plugs done then? If anyone has any advice please chime in!
