Default Hello

I came here via a search for my 5L coolant leaks.

Last summer, 1,000 miles from home, the infamous o-ring on the bottom of the coolant recovery bottle developed its leak. Had a shop 1 hour outside the national park where we were staying do the repair. (He didn't have the OEM hose, so we drove half the day to about 7 parts stores seeking it.)

This year, only 800 miles from home, the upper radiator hose began leaking. This shop was 1 1/2 hours from our campsite.

Now I will replace the Y pipe, so that last (hopefully) o-ring issue goes away. (I'll clean the throttle body while I'm in there, too.)

Welcome to the forum. Other than making them harder for the DIY person to fix their own vehicle. What was wrong with the old style with heater hoses & clamps?

I would guess that the style used on my vehicle are faster to assemble in the factory, which equates to a cost savings passed onto us (hopefully).

I agree with you, Mike. As far as shade tree wrenching, the old clamps were (are) better.
