Long Long ago, in a college far away, I once saw a 97ish reg cab stepside f150 in red. ever since then I've wanted one. I found the new bodystyle one day 13 miles from home at a gas station by work, told the guy nice truck, he offered to sell it due to a growing family. I declined
. I was not financially ready for that big of a payment. We went our ways and a few months later I was dinking around cruising the car lots as always. then I see it, my dream truck again! so I traded my explorer and bought it.
Drove it for a while and the cashier at the same gas station recognized it as her husbands old truck. I got his number and called him, found out he was the first owner!
Then I signed up for a road rally, my 66 mustang engine seized, so I had to go to the dream truck. put stickers on it from rally and personal sponsors. best part? tire sponsorship. got myself a co-pilot in my good friend cody. he's the one with normal hair. then it was rally time! No one thought the slowest top speed vehicle on the rally would do any good. I was top 5 the first day until a support vehicle in front of me got hit by oncoming traffic. I sustained damage. damage enuf for me to claim, so I lost 3 hour waiting for an officer.
got back on the road and came in damn near dead last the first day.
The second day I gave her the goods and actually received a call asking if I had been passed yet. a few hours later there goes roush and BMW running from the cops.
I kept on it the best I could and finished 4th that day. in the lowest top speed vehicle.
last day kept on it passing a lot of people including a saleen stang. rolled in 3rd, but blew the checkpoint. came in 5th I think. 8th overall.
I'm already signed up for next year and that brings me to the future mods list. The roush SC is already at my house waiting for me to go and meet it. then lowering next summer, z rated tires, a lightbar on the roof, firemans plates, and rural fire dept decals all over it. service tank in the back, wip waps, and mental preparation. Lesson I learned is it takes a lot of dedication to win, but also a lil speed.
That's the story of me and my truck.
p.s. we also had our fair hand in shennanigans and won most entertaining.
it is all documented on DVD and I'm excitedly waiting for my copy.
