Greetings from WI
A few weeks ago I took delivery of a new 2013 F150 Platinum 4x4 supercrew EcoBoost.
I love the truck, and I'm presently working on getting it setup just how I want. A higher end Leer cap is on order, and a Line-X spray in bed liner will be installed at that time.
I removed the tailgate step assist bar.
Other than that, you might want to know that I traded in my 2000 F250 V10 crew cab. I loved that truck, and as much I appreciate all the things that are nicer on the new truck, I do miss my old one in some respects.
With that said, understand that I'm not a brand loyalist kind of guy. I've owned Chevy and Dodge trucks in the past, and I shopped them all prior to this latest purchase. I see pro's and con's to all the trucks out there. It just so happens that for my needs and likes, the F150 was the best choice.
Besides being an occasional daily driver, my truck is used for roadtrips, hunting, and towing a boat and ATV trailer (both about 5,500lbs). There are couple of minor irritations with the new truck. One was addressed with me removing the previously mentioned tailgate step assist bar.
Thus far I've put about 1000 miles on the truck, and I'm waiting a bit longer before I take it to the dealership for service. Thus far, gas milage has not been too good on the highway. Pure highway miles, I'm getting 15.9mpg with the 3.5L EcoBoost. If that can't be improved upon, I'll not be happy and will drop the "Eco" and simply call it the "Boost" engine. Love the performance, and thus far, I'm just trying to make sure that I keep my foot out of it when attempting to get accurate highway milage on longer drives. I will say that my V10 F250 4x4 would occasionally get 16 mpg when doing pure highway driving. We'll see what develops on this.
