Greetings from the 'new' guy
Hey ALL ...
Just joined as we need somewhere to go to find info on our truck
Currently our latest problem is no heat (even after running for an hour and it's fall - yikes)
Any chance on getting a pictorial on how to change thermostat on 2009 Ford XTR 4.6 Triton - love the truck - love to fix problem to keep mother happy as next week bringing it in for it's thorough rust proofing.
Hope to hear from someone with same truck with same issue or knows how to change thermostat. I've looked and it looks like a fairly easy job (direct access) .. but as in everything else ... there is usually a way to go about doing it correctly.
Cheers for now - thanks

Welcome Voiceman from SoCal. I'm pretty sure if you don't have heat in the cab, it's not the thermostat on the motor. A good indication of a bad T-Stat would be the truck takes a VERY long time to reach operating temperature (190 degrees). If that's OK then it's in the heater itself. Start by checking the 2 hoses that run to the firewall and see if they are hot. If they are, it sounds like a problem with the heater core "Blendoor" that opens and closes allowing air to flow over the heater core. It could be the motor that controls this door, accessed from under the dash. You should hear the door thump as it closes. If the motor is good then it may be the plastic bottom of the Blendoor, where the motor fits in, often breaks. This is a very common problem and unfortunately requires the removal of the entire dash board to replace it. I did mine last year. Good luck
AWESOME ... MOTHER WON'T BE HAPPY
