Greetings all.
My name is Matt. I'm a truck driver living in Orange, TX. As soon as my income tax comes in I'll be purchasing a 1999 F-150.
I've owned many vehicles in my life. Every GM vehicle I have ever owned gave me problems within a month of purchase. The 79 GMC pickup cracked the head within two weeks. The 88 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme had electrical problems from the start. The 04 Pontiac Vibe had A/C problems that the dealer refused to repair. The 05 Saturn my fiance and I tried to buy was a complete bust as the transmission went out after 4 hours (yes, you read that right). Finally, the 05 Pontiac Aztek we currently own had the ignition lock cylinder give up after about a month of ownership. I had a Chevrolet C-1500 that lasted about a month or so before the head gasket blew and there was severe internal damage to the engine.
I've had better luck with Chrysler products. The 89 Dodge Spirit, which was my first car, didn't live long, but I can't blame the car as it was a hand me down and my sister wore it out before I got my hands on it. The 84 Dodge Ramcharger was old when I got it but lasted me another 5 years before it gave up. It never gave me any real problems that couldn't be easily fixed.
However, the best vehicle I ever owned was a 1994 Mazda B3000 pickup. For those that don't know, 94 was the first year the Mazda pickup and the Ford Ranger was the same truck. They were nearly identical. It had a Ford 3.0L V-6, a Ford 5-speed manual transmission, and a Ford 8.8" rear end. The doors were the same, the bed was the same, and the interior was the same, save the badging. The fenders and front clip were different on the Mazda. That truck served me very well. I lost it when someone ran me off the road and it rolled, totaling it.
Now, I am about to purchase my second Ford product. If history holds true, I will enjoy it for a long time. I promise I will post pictures when I get the truck.
