Fuel issue.
I am new to the group, my name is Willie. i have a 96 F-150 4.9 with 219500 all original and running strong. common codes are 171 &174 those are daily which i have replace some items (o2 sensor)
but it runs great.
I keep both tanks full and rotate fuel from front to rear & rear to front about every 50 miles and at 200 miles i fill her up again, ( about 13-17 mpg) at times it will spills fuel out to cap after driving on the highway for a while not all the times but it has, so I have replaced both gas caps. today I get ready to leave and she turn over but wont start, relays are good, fuses, accident fuel shut off is not activated and has power. I have spark, spraying carb cleaner in the throttle body she will run. i can see the fuel pump going out but on both tanks. i replaced the fuel filter and switch tanks while the engine is running with carb cleaner. looking at removing the bed instead of dropping the tanks if it is both pumps that need to be replace. so is it possible that both fuel pumps go bad at the same time?
thank you for any assistance
