Frustrating thump at launch
Hello. I'm new in this forum and it looks like the place to be.
I have a 2012 F150 Platinum with all the goodies, plus. I bought it used, in great condition, but there is a noise that's hard to figure. At take-off from a standstill I get a thump every time. It's almost immediate, and only off the line. I've had the universals checked out and they're just fine. The spline from the x-fer case is lubed, motor mounts check out. The backlash in the diff has no noticeable slop. And it isn't as bad when it's cold but gets stronger when if heats up.
Somewhere I read that there had been an issue with the driveshaft yoke not being "coated" that created premature wear. Something internal that reduced wear, like hardened or something. But it only happens at launch.
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
