First time Ford owner.......
I have always been a diehard GM man but I really like the look and handling of my 2006 F150 XLT 4x4 so far.
I purchased it in January of 2009 and I have 126,000 km's on it now.
So far I have replaced tires, fuel pump driver(due to corrosion) and sparkplugs at 100,000 km's. I bought the plug removal plug from NAPA and when I changed the plugs, I used the Motocraft carbon removal spray and only broke #5 and #7, the tool worked great and I was done in 2 hours flat!
Tommorrow morning I will have to purchase a vacuum powered hub lock for the right front. Diagnosed this one today(3 hours)jacked it up and found that the left front was engaged no matter where the switch was, 2H, 4H and 4L. The right side will not engage unless I disconnect the vacuum hose and give it a little shot of air. I removed the wheel bearing and it appears as if the seal for the vacuum actuator is broken, lots of rusty water inside the hub but the bearing is okay.
This problem started when I had our local Ford dealer replace the right upper control arm/balljoint assembly. They pinched the vacuum line for the left front under the flange of one of the strut mounting bolts, so the left front was always engaged and the right front had very low vacuum due to the break caused by the dealers shoddy work. Anyway I will make the dealer aware of the consequences of poor service. I always do my own work but I was leaving for a cross Canada trip the next day and I needed the ball joint changed right away.
Sorry about being so chatty but I do like the damned truck, it is the roomiest truck out there for big guys!
