From Fiesta to F150
I'm happy to be here in the Forum. My first car ever was a Ford Fiesta, which I took to Germany on my first assignment in the Army, and kept for almost 7 years. It traveled well through snow, dirt, and autobahns, getting about 40 miles per gallon (which was good, since its gas tank only held 10 gallons!). Fast forward many, many years later, and I'm back in a Ford; this time a 2024 Ford F-150. Doesn't get quite the mileage that the Fiesta did, but completed its maiden voyage hauling a 6x12 utility trailer about 1400 miles with no issues.
We live in Eastern Washington, where there aren't a ton of hills, let alone mountains, but I'm looking forward to having access to 4WD when I want it. Already put running boards on it, as the hip twitch to get in was kind of a (literal) pain in the butt. It's got a short bed (5'5") so can't fit a bike in the back of it, but it can haul what we need it to.
We are both retired, and like to travel. Not so much into four-wheeling or off-road, although we used to be. Now it's more about the journey to get somewhere, and what to do when we get there. I'm looking forward to reading about tips and tricks for improving my experience with my truck (his name is Bullet, as he's silver and goes fast!).
