Default Driveshaft Loop

I have a 2004 F-150 lariat. Last week I was left on the freeway by my 04 F-150. Determined the driveshaft had fallen. The driveshaft bracket (loop) that holds the shaft up in the center (between transmission and differential) had torn away leaving my draftshaft hanging and making a horrible noise. (The bracket is somewhere on the freeway.)

My mechanic says the only way to obtain a new bracket is to buy a new driveshaft with a bracket from Ford. That is a $1,000 investment for a piece of sheet metal holding up the drive shaft.

Does this sound right.

Can you get a pic? I think you are talking about the carrier bearing that supports the center of the shaft, if that is the case you can just get them from Auto Zone.
