My first new vehicle was a 1977 F-150 Flareside 4x4 and I have now come full circle. I just purchased a left-over 2018 F-150 after having owned a 1980 Bronco, several Rangers and a 2007 Sport Trac.
I retired about two and a half years ago and moved from OH to a property I have in rural PA. Since the move I have added equipment to maintain the property and needed a bigger truck to be able to trailer that equipment as well as a bunch of old Ford collector cars. I don't tow or haul very big loads or very often so a Super Duty was not necessary but the Sport Trac also wasn't really big enough plus it was pushing 164k miles. End-of-year incentives were also too good to pass up (over $12k in discounts and rebates).
The F-150 is a 4x4 XLT 302A 145" WB supercrew with the 5.0L and 3.73:1 axle ratios with rear E-locker. It is Ingot Silver with the Special Edition, Sport Appearance, Power Equipment Group and FX4 packages. Also has the twin panel moonroof, trailer tow package, 7000# GVWR package, integrated brake controller, voice activated navigation, BLIS with trailer tow monitoring, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, 36 gal fuel tank, LED side-mirror spotlights, Ford drop-in bedliner and tailgate step.
