Hello, I'm Mike in Southern California. After having several Ford trucks over the years, I took a detour a few years ago and purchased a low mileage GMS 2500HD with the gas-guzzling 8.1 and Allison trans. What a pile of junk! After yet another breakdown and being unwilling to toss another $1k at it for yet another repair I've come back home!
Oh, how times have changed! I've had F150s, F250s, Expeditions, Broncos, etc. over the years but the level of functionality and features to be found on the new trucks amaze me. It was really tempting to be hypnotized by the added bling of the higher trim level models, but in the end I got a pretty loaded up XLT that will fit my needs just perfectly.
Grabbed a sweet deal on a 2017 Ruby Red Supercrew with the 3.5 EB and 10-speed transmission. Made sure it had the HD tow package and the yet to be tested tow assist. Sync 3 with Sync Connect brings the technology together and we are off and running. Line-X goes in soon, and I'll look for some better floor mats (Weathertech?) and maybe seat covers (Wet Okole?).
Looking forward to wasting time...errr, researching topics....here moving forward. Thanks for the add!
Welcome to the F-150 boards, glad to have you join.
Any fun performance mods plans to the truck?
Thanks!
At some point yes. Not entirely sure where I'll head with that now...I want to use it for a bit, tow with it some, and see where I can focus efforts. In the short term it will be small appearance and functionality items.
Welcome back. I've got Weathertech, but the Husky's are nice as well.
Thanks for that. It looks like they offer a "laser cut" and an all-weather version. The latter being a little lower cost. Which do you have? I'm a bit unclear on the differences.
