Back in a Ford again (Eventually)
Soon to be new F series owner in Southeast Pa here.
Had a 95 Ranger for 5 trouble free years that served me well back in college. Shopped for my first new vehicle in 03, 03 F150 Scab. Got frustrated with Ford dealers trying to sell me 03 F150s for sticker or close to it when the 04s were coming out because I was 24 years old and they figured that meant I’d pay it. Eventually went to a Dakota in 04 (Nothing but trouble)
Then an 09 Tundra purchased new that’s given me 13 years of faithful service. She is a pretty basic SR5 without even steering wheel controls or remote start. I am now ready for some more modern tech and creature comforts to last me another 15-20 years into retirement as my main family/dog hauler, winter vehicle, road trip warrior and Home Depot run/ furniture hauler go-to. After a lot of thought and research and noting some issues that turn me off to the new Tundra I evaluated my options and decided it’s time to get back in a Ford.
Ordered my Rapid red Lariat Crew Cab 5.0 V8 short bed 4x4 with twin panel moonroof this past Saturday and very excited although I know the wait will be forever. It is apparently one of those unicorn configurations they don’t put on the lot, the Lariat MID with just the sunroof box checked and almost nothing else.
