Arizona FX4 checking in
Hello all,
This is my first Ford F-150. Just bought this 2004 Supercab FX4 F150 with........300000miles! lol! I'm a very versed mechanic that would normally run away, but the previous owner mention an engine rebuild recently, new AC compressor and condensor, new starter....and that he's OCD about maintenance. On first glance the body looked pretty good, interior was decent, and most importantly underneath everything was dry. The test drive revealed a bit of loose steering with occasional back and forth motion, but nothing I wouldn't be able to handle.
So after driving a few days, and really enjoying it.....I get it now
.....I figured I'll check all the fluids eventhough the previous owner had 'accomplished' this. Trans dipstick dry...2qts later normal. With no leaks, I had to check the transfer case. Opened the top plug expecting the 2 extra quarts...nothing...dry! Opened the bottom plug and got 1/2 qt total, and a piece of plastic which looks like the piece that sits on the clutch fork.....argghh!
So eventhough my new ownership is off to a rough start, I'm glad to be here to get to meet some of you!
