Dropping a line to say Hi. I an A Heavy Duty Mechanic from Red Deer, Alberta. I have been lurking for a few weeks as I gathered much needed info for fresh repairs to my "new to me" truck. I must say I am impressed with the knowledge on this site. I recently purchased a 1997 F150 XLT, my first ford in 15 years. (last one was a 73' 302 4spd 1/2 ton). My "new" truck turned out to need a little love, as in a fuel pump, RH exhaust manifold, and new plugs, a few sensors, etc, I think it needed every miserable job on a 5,4 you can do done.. While I was at it I changed all oils, flushed the rear end and power steering, changed the pinion seal and trans output seal, and welded up a few leaks in the exhaust. Now she is running like a top!! Thanks in part to the info from this site. I had never worked on a newer ford engine before, or a ford truck newer than I beam suspension LOL!!! Anywho, hello and thanks for the help already. I hope I can return the favor to someone.
Brian.

Thanks, I think I got a good deal. next month, I will repaint the box (some wheel well rust) and get rid of the 90's decal package, then slowly start the mods. Not sure the look I want to go for yet. I have always liked the way these 97 - 03 fords look in a 2 wd scab.
Sure would like to go to captains chairs and a console, as the split bench is a little clapped.
