Another new guy
Hello from central Calif. New to this forum, but have already used a lot of the wisdom that I've read here. Have a '97 F150, XLT, 5.4, 2wd, 3 door. Bought it about 2 months ago. Wanted a DIY that would pull a travel trailer. Working on a budget..., did I mention DIY ? So, I've discovered that the only tools that the PO had were wire cutters & and black tape. Since I got it I've done entire brake system (including booster, MC, and all lines), new instrument cluster, clock spring, all new cooling system (everything), "gotts" intake mod, plugs & COPs, shocks, misc switch & wiring repair for things like high beams , mirrors, door locks, etc. Sounds like a lot, but I've had a blast bringing it back to life. Just got back from maiden camping trip, and this little truck pulled my 24' trailer up to about 7800 ft. Just like a champ. I freakin love this truck.
Still have a lot to do..., cruise control, sloppy front end, evap system codes, spongy brakes, etc. Only thing in my way is time & money (maybe ability too, but I'm working on that). I'm no rocket scientist, but learned and improvised a few things with cooling system, clock spring, and some vacuum leaks. Will happily share what I know, a d will shut up if I don't.
Thanks and happy to be here,
Doulie
