Another "FNG"
Hi everyone-
I actually purchased my F 150 back in the spring with 97,000 miles. She's a 97 4.6L 5 speed 4x4 supercab. It's in great condition as the original owner was in Kentucky and it has only seen our dreaded Michigan road salt last winter. I'm actually going to cross the border into Canada in a couple weeks and get the "Krown" rustproofing applied. Figure I'll keep her rust free as long as I can. So far I've done the Gott's mod, removed air intake silencer, replaced rear shocks and just had a set of Cooper At3's put on yesterday. So far they're great, although they haven't really been put to the test yet. She's also going in for a clutch replacement soon as I'm getting a lot of chattering but no slipping yet. I've been checking out the forum daily and always looking for new mod ideas or things to look out for maintenance wise. Oh yeah and I've got a set of spark plugs that will soon be going in. Not looking forward to that. I did the plugs in my wife's Expedition last year and was ready to CHOKE the engineer that designed the engine layout.

Welcome, and yeah you want to keep that rust off as long as you can. My 97 is a rust bucket underneath. As far as your spark plugs go they're not that bad if you get a good long 3/8" ratchet, a set of locking extensions so you don't get the socket stuck and a high quality universal 5/8" spark plug socket. And when you loosen the plugs smack the ratchet hard and quick with an open palm. That will make them break loose without busting your knuckles on something when they give.
