87 towing???

Default 87 towing???

I just bought a 87 f-150 v8 5l and need to know if towing with the step bumper is safe for a 3000lb boat and trailer or will I need to get a seperate hitch installed?

Welcome to the site

You need to check the rating on the bumper. If it's not labeled and it's oem check the owner's manual. I would assume it should be rated for 5K lbs but you should check that. If it is rated for your load then you should be alright, of course, a receiver is a lot better way to tow.
