Default 4.6L or 5.4L????

Im looking to buy a 2010 ford f-150 supercab in the next week or so. I would like to get a hitch on the truck whether its a 4.6L or a 5.4L, factory installed. The things I will be towing the odd time is a 17 foot boat, and a trailer with dirtbikes and ATV's. Could someone please let me know what they think, and what the fuel consumption is like on the 5.4L.Which size should I buy??

P.S. Right now at Ford, there isn't much of a price difference between the two engines with towing packages. Is the bigger engine better for resale value, and will it work less under towing conditions than the smaller engine?

Thanks!

just in general driving of 4.6 and 5.4 trucks, i wouldn't get a 4.6 truck. i have probably driven a few hundred 2004-2010 f150s as well. the 4.6 just doesn't seem to have the same throttle response and i believe fuel economy is better in the 5.4 trucks

Default 4.6L or 5.4L

Go with the 5.4L and you won't be disappointed. It should give you the power you need and the 4.6L will have to work harder to get similar performance.
