2018 F150 Oil Consumption
Hey new F150 owners, my new f150 with the 2.7 Ecoboost engine was using oil (about 1/2 quart every 4K). The mechanic told me that the oil pan gasket had a very small leak and the service guy told me that Ford is putting plastic pans on their trucks. They replaced it under warranty and I hope that is it! So, you really do need to check your oil every 1000 miles like the owner's manual recommends... May seem obvious to some, but for those that assume a new truck shouldn't need the oil checked... well, do it anyway.

Update on issue with Oil Pan/Leak: I have had the truck now for 2 1/2 years and 40K miles. The first replacement of the oil pan made by the dealer leaked as well and needed replacement at the next oil change. The mechanic told me that he had followed the Ford recommended service steps, but the second time around he used a different sealing product (maybe more of it as well) between pan and engine surface. It has worked and after several oil changes, it hasn't leaked a drop. Oil level remains constant from oil change to next oil change, as it should... Fingers crossed that fix holds forever! That has been my only issue with the truck so far and I can't say enough for how well it drives, how responsive it is, or how quiet it is... To top it off, the F150 continues to be more highly rated on NHTSA safety than others, like the Tundra, which I thought I wanted until I test drove a Ford with an Ecoboost engine! Happy with it.
