Default 2016 tailgate bumpers.

Tried to install new tailgate bumpers today. Official Ford parts. The push in locking pins don’t work. They snap in, but the locking portion doesn’t expand nearly enough to hold it tight. They both just fell right out.
suggestions for pins that will work?

thanks.

I used the Christmas tree plastic retainers. Cut the head to fit inside the bumper and pushed it thru into the bedside. Been there for 5 years or so and hasn't come off.

Local parts stores should have some.

Welcome back.
According to the Ford parts website, the bumpers include attaching hardware ??

it does, and I posted pictures of the “hardware” above. I’m saying that the hardware (different from what you posted) does not work. The pins don’t expand nearly enough to securely hold the bumpers in place.

Had an issue with these falling out some years ago after the dealer did a spray in bed liner.

I bought some different push pins at Lowe’s that worked great. They’re cheap, just get a few styles and use what works best.
