Default Where to start

I just purchased my first new F150 with a stone green metalic paint. I plan on keeping my truck for a long time. I am wandering if you can help me by giving me tips on products and techniques for keeping my F150 looking tip top. I will post some pics later on.

Congrats on the new truck. It really boils down to how OCD you really want to get with your truck. Me personally, I'm pretty OCD and work every weekend to shine mine up.

1. Always wash using the 2 bucket method
2. Get yourself a good wash mitt (not some cheap wally world special)
3. Get some good microfiber towels that are used exclusively for the paint. Don't allow them to touch any other part of the truck!
4. The Megs 3 step system (paint cleaner, polish & wax) works good for weekend warriors who aren't completely OCD.
5. Don't forget the windows because water spots build up easily and are a bear to remove
6. When you're all complete hit those fenderwalls with some cheap tire foam and watch'em shine. Makes a huge difference in overall appearance.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the great tips, I am going to get me some of the Mcguires 3 step system. Sounds like it is good stuff.

if your really **** about the paint on your truck i would recommend Zanio wax. Its fairly pricey but a little goes a long ways and i've been showing cars for 5 years and haven't found anything to compare to it yet.

suggest you go to the trouble of using a paste wax that makes you rub, rub, rub. I seems to help smooth the paint (it's pliable).
Have a '97 and having spent many hours putting wax on, nothing but paste, and rubbing. Today it looks far better that the new ones.
You can't get something for nothing.
