I have a 2012 f150xlt that I bought new/used. Seems someone like to put their feet up on the dash or they had something on the passenger side that rubbed the trim just above the glove box. How would one re-color that black trim? I have thought heck, I'm just going to buy a new part but there has to be someway to fix this.

Sounds like you need touch up paint.
