Assuming you are referring to the trademark water spot looking stains on the '04+, Volvo had the same problem on their T-tech fabric interiors in the S40. The only way we found that you can really address this without a steam cleaner is to evenly wet the entire seat and then let it dry. Any moisture in any fashion- be it cleaning solution or whatever, will net this result.

If you have other stains on the seats or carpet, I would just use foaming carpet cleaner. The brands that have the brush attached all work decent. If you have really tough stains that won't come out just with that stuff, don't be affraid to spray some tire and wheel cleaner or degreaser on top of the foam and let it sit for a minute or so before scrubbing.

Default cleaning cloth

I've said this before. Try Lava soap. Get lots of suds, cloth pretty wet, scrub well in all directions, wipe as dry as possible, vacuum a bunch, air dry.
works for me.

Default Baby wipes

If stains aren't too bad, I have had excellent results using baby wipes. Just scrub in all directions and let dry. BTW always use a fresh one...ha ha.
