Default Clay bar?

Watching an hours worth of clay bar videos on you tube. Stuff from auto geek is terrific. Seems to me as long as I use the fine bar and follow instructions I can't do much damage.

Bought truck 1 month ago, now has 1500 miles on it. Any other tips? Never heard of clay bar until joining forum 1 month ago. Just don't want to permanently damage paint, but would like to st up my detailing.

Thanks

Just use plenty of lube and you don't have to put much pressure on it.

If you drop the claybar on the ground it's toast no matter how good you think you "picked" out the bits. FYI there's a detailing section you can probably find some more hints there.

Obligatory: "That's what she said!"

This.

You can't mess up your paint with a clay bar unless you drop it on the ground and try to keep using it.

Remember to fold the clay bar over on itself and continue to use new sides of the bar. If you drop it, throw it away.

Great, thanks for replies.

I believe lube comes with it. One of the videos says you can use soapy water or detailing spray. Is detailing spray similar to lube?

Will check out detailing page.

I thought clay bar was all hype, but I used one last year on my restoration project '76 Jeep CJ5 and the results were incredible. It had been garaged since it's respray in '02, but still had a lot of grit in the clear coat. The clay bar (Meguiars) got it all out. Amazing.

the clay bar kits I have purchased all have come with quick detailing spray as the lube. Just do small sections at a time, and use a nice microfiber to clean up after using the clay bar. The results are amazing, you can feel and see the difference. It also makes wax application a breeze.

I bought the pinnacle clay kit from auto geek that came with some special lube. It smelled nice but would run down the paint too much and I had to use much more than quick detailer to keep the clay lubricated.
