Default Spammers? WTH?

We're being infiltrated!!!!

How can we go about stopping or at least deterring these crazy "vv", "pp',"cc" threads with those crazy links? I have deleted at least a dozen in the last 48 hours and I am sure that other mods have noticed them.

This happens every now and then...it's annoying.

The Mod approval idea might be a good idea....don't know what all it entails but we will will see what Jon and Nathan say. It has been brought up before but I do not remember the outcome.

It has never really materialized into anything other than an idea. We have been nailed by these guys lately.

Also not to mention the sheer numbers of folks we get who register to ask one question. That could possibly turn into a full time job just approving folks....

Just a thought....

Maybe a guest section could be set up. An area that is open to guests of the forum and basically they can set up an account similar to what we have in place now. This is the only area you can access until you reach "x" amount of posts. If they have the desire to stick around and be a contributing member, then a flag can be sent to the site admins to approve them. I would say if that could be set up with a trip at 25 post approval, maybe we would not even have to police that area as much.

Just throwing ideas out there.
