We are ready to launch a new way to enjoy the F150Forum community from your desktop/iPad devices!
It's still a beta, but beginning today if you're logged in and visiting the Community from your iPad/desktop device, you can now choose a desktop dark mode theme in addition to the standard 'bright' theme we've always had
We are looking to you for feedback about the experience. Being that you are one of the first communities we're trying this out on we appreciate any feedback you're able to provide in this thread.
Please enable dark mode using the toggle at the upper right, and let us know your feedback!
Along with the theme, we're also including a new iconset with dark mode to highlight thread status:
I may have other things but, first thing that sticks out is the go to first unread button pretty much blends into the thread title. Not as easy to pick out if you are new to the forum. This is for the list when you select new posts.
The text turns black and you can't even read what has been written.
this happens when a member copy/pasted text and due to how the editor works, the colour is then 'hard coded' into the post, it's visible when viewing the source inside the editor. We are aware of this, but do not have a resolution yet.
So far, not a fan. I think there are too many colors. I switched to another forum and enabled dark mode. The main page background is one color, black, unlike the really dark grayscale used here in this dark mode. The other shades of gray make it appear a bit more cluttered. I'd say pick 2 colors and stick with them, like a background color and a header/status bar color. Not making different banners different colors. Likewise, the user name and the body of a topic should not have different colors.
Like above, not enough contrast. The white text doesn't stand out well enough (for me) against the not quite black background.
The text seems to be more 'bold' when reading a thread than the text on the main "new posts" page is. I don't think I care for either, but they appear different for some reason. And a third font situation is as I type this note, it is different than what I am reading in the thread and different than the main page. In the day-mode, the user name box is slightly different than the body, however that seems to be easier to differentiate than the light gray/dark gray.
The comparison forum I am referring to has 2 colors. The black background and a deep gray 'banner' where the thread title shows (similar, but darker) than the box I am typing in right now). Each are borderless, the color separation creates the border. That is the same as the body of a thread, each response area is that deep dark gray, separating it from the black background. There are no borders around the user name, the name appears to float against the black background.
The lighter user name area next to the body of the message looks confusing, again because too many different colors. Or maybe the dark just needs to be darker offering added contrast.
Like mentioned above, the 'go to last post' is difficult to see, maybe it would look better if the background were darker, like the rest of the page instead of the different column color. Or better yet, if that darker color were black.
I had to use search to find this thread to respond, the text box was difficult to find for some reason.
That's all I got for now.
In short, make the darkest color black instead of the very dark gray. Reduce the number of grays used. The pages have too many variations and the light gray user name box doesn't look good next to the body text area.
the ads should be changed, not sure what's up with that thanks for pointing it out @Archangel72 . @Stu Cazzo I'm on a mac, it works here, what isn't working for you?

Beats me...I click on the toggle to activate dark mode and nothing changes.
If I reload the page, it shows the toggle as being deactivated again.
Im on a macbook air using Mac OS High Sierra version 10.13.6
And...using Safari version 13.1.2
