I always hear people talking about, "Do you know anyone who owns a truck?" I haven't purchased my F150 yet, but plan to soon. Just wondered how life changed when you bought your truck re: new "friends" asking to borrow the truck or you to help move stuff.

Not really but I never turn down a friends request. I bought my truck with specific use in mind, hauling/towing my crap around.

Never let anyone borrow my truck. Don't plan to, either.

My wife (back in ‘95) was too encouraging wanting me to purchase a new truck. She was wanting to go truck shopping all the time.

So, I took advantage of the positive waves and bought a new XLT. Turned out the only reason she wanted it was to use it to move theatre props for the local community thing where she hung out.

No ma’am.

I've owned a truck since I started driving, and yes I've had countless requests to help people move. I pretty much always helped out my friends, but now that I've got a home and kids to take care of I've learned to say "no". I've even had to turn down my sister twice because I was busy on her move days (but she's single and there were PLENTY of guys that showed up to help her move). About the only person I help out now is my FIL, he recently sold his truck and being 75 years old I should really help him anyway when he needs to move stuff.

A friend will help you move furniture.

A real friend will help you move a body.

Nope. Only ones that have asked me to help move stuff with my truck is my Dad and brother. Family (both sides), my 2 best friends (met before kindergarten) and a few other friends are the only ones I would move stuff for.

To add, only person I'd let drive my truck is my Dad.

I'll help good friends and relatives, no problem. If I can't, I send them to U-Haul. I once did not have a truck and when I needed a truck, somebody always helped me. So now it's my turn to help.
