Default XLT or XL? That is the question.

My 2010 F150 is, and was sold to me as, a F150 XLT. Badging suggests this is correct. It's never been in an accident, and the badges look like they've never been changed. I did a VIN check and it comes up as an XL. Is there a way to check how the truck was built?

Check the FordEtis site. Type "FordEtis" in Google, when you get to the site, just type in your VIN. You'll get a very detailed build spec for your specific vehicle.

I did the same thing for a used 2013 XLT that I recently bought. It's a very interesting spec that shows many items that are listed in option packages that sometimes are included and sometimes deleted. Not quite sure how that happens but I guess that's the way they build them.

Wow! Awesome site. So one of the things on the list is XLT/FAMILY CARRIER. So I guess it's an XLT after all. Many options listed as LESS. I'm ok with most. I do wish I had a MPG computer. But I guess it would only depress me!
Thanks Kinerin.

Do you have chrome almost everywhere it could be applied? Not always an XLT thing, but XL's came with black bumpers/grilles. XL's were usually pretty plain jane.

Most XL's are ordered pretty plain. But depending on how it was ordered the line is often blurry.

Thanks Kinerin.
Yeah I found it pretty funky too.

Some things that are supposedly included in packages listed on the window sticker are deleted ie:

"3:31 Electronic rear axle". Stated on sticker.
"Less Elec locking differential". Stated on Etis.
Then later down the Etis list is "with electronic trans case and IWE'S. Not the slightest idea what that means.

Sticker states under Optional Equipment "7200# GVWR Package". Don't know what that means

Etis states: "with heavy duty trailer towing" but not listed on sticker.??!!

Kinda seems like items are added and/or deleted depending on whatever happens to be on hand at assembly time.!!
